“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” — Zig Ziglar

Hope can waver, and hope can wane. The same goes for motivation and inspiration. To counter that, we need a daily source of inspiration, motivation, and hope.

When I was paying off my massive amount of debt, I was inspired by the debt-free stories at the beginning of the book, The Total Money Makeover. But while I was paying it off, I felt kind of alone. The people in my life either thought I was weird or that trying to pay off my debt was “a nice little idea” and not really something that would actually happen.

Let’s face it: when you’re doing something that’s countercultural, it can be lonely.

What I didn’t know at the time was that a whole community of debt-free’ers (I know, not a real word) existed online. A whole bunch of people were doing what I was doing and were documenting their journey.

I wish I knew, because following along with someone who is walking the same path you are can make a significant difference. A positive one. It’s like going to the gym with a friend.

So, do you have a source of motivation or inspiration to help you get to where you want to be financially?

Whether you’re aiming for early retirement, paying off six figures of student loan debt, or are attempting to be more frugal, having a “well” of motivation from which you can draw will keep you energized, inspired, and hopeful.

Like bathing, you need motivation daily.
